Well, here we are again. I'm resuming this blog experiment. Still need to find a real purpose for it, I guess for now to share with the world things that would take longer than my 5 line mailing list to go into. Maybe a travel log as I roam the world in the coming months, which is my plan. I'd love to share my journeying with you, if you'll have me. :)

So I haven't written in ages, but oh well. Biggest news lately is that out of 50 people who first applied, I'm one of 12 going on a Habitat for Humanity trip next January in Southern India! Oh, and I'm over the moon for the two-year old boy I've been taking care of this week. His name's Auggie (for August). On my way to Arizona in a week for a Golden Key conference, paid for by good ol' B.U. It's gonna be HAWT (I'm developing a traditional American drawl, it seems) but wonderful. June 16

Forgot about this. During staff training we climbed to Cathedral Dome at night and yelled echoes out across the mountains to Buck Rock, a really cool rock formation that is also our fire lookout, one of the last of its kind, I think. We also saw a shooting star while we were out there!

June 20

So I'm a counsellor on Lupine deck with the youngest girls (7-10). They are spectacular!

One heck of a learning curve diabetes-wise. Within the 10 days since I've been here, I've gone from zero knowledge to checking my own blood glucose level, checking other people's BG level, giving myself a shot (saline), giving other people their shots (insulin), learning about insulin pumps, insulin pens, long-acting vs. fast-acting, and tons more! Cool stuff.


Oh, and I sleep under the stars for real now. I think I saw a satellite last night, but it crossed the sky in about 12 seconds, so maybe it was something else?

June 17

Melting, melting, melting.

Spent the weekend in Fresno with some new camp staff friends. Crammed six of us into a Marriott suite and had IHOP for breakfast. It was 99 degrees during the day apparently and I had no idea what that meant because I don't understand Fahrenheit, but frankly I was too hot to care.

So my titles will be my dates because who knows when I'll get on here next. And now, camp blog posting number one:

I live in a yurt! Still looking forward to sleeping under the stars, but for now this is stellar in its own way. :)
